Speed Up Your MS Word by Disabling Background Repagination Option
MS Word can use a lot of resources and thus slow down if your “background repagination” option is turned on.
If you are working on a long document and if you feel MS Word is not responding quickly to your commands, you might try disabling background repagination.
For MS Word 2007:
- Make sure your Word document is NOT in Print Layout view. (“Enable background repagination” check-box is disabled in the Print Layout view.)
- Click the Office button and select Word Options.
- In the left navigation bar, select the Advanced group of options.
- In the General group of options, clear the check box in front of the “Enable background repagination” option and disable it.
- Click OK.
For MS Word 2010:
- Make sure your Word document is NOT in Print Layout view. (“Enable background repagination” check-box is disabled in the Print Layout view.)
- Click the File tab on the ribbon and select Options.
- In the left navigation bar, select the Advanced group of options.
- In the General group of options, clear the check box in front of the “Enable background repagination” option and disable it.
- Click OK.
